Around the Island of Cozumel

Cozumel Mexico is well-known for some of the best SCUBA diving  in the world. The water is a warm 76 – 84 degrees with an average of 80 degrees and about 200 feet visibility on any given day. It is no surprise that SCUBA diving and tourism are Cozumel biggest industry.  If you visit Cozumel for diving, don’t forget to rent a car or a jeep and take a trip around the island. The beaches on the other side of the island are beautiful and mostly deserted.  You’ll find several roadside tourist “shops” and  with a few small cantinas and local restaurants that serve cold drinks and sea food right on the beach. Speaking of food, don’t miss the only town, San Miguel, on the island of  Cozumel.  There is plenty of shopping and lots of good restaurants.  The center of the island hosts some ancient  Mayan ruins that are fun to see and learn more of the history of the island.  If so don’t dive, but still love the water and want to see the spectacular fish, try a day trip to Chankanaab National Park on the southern part of the island.  Cozumel is a family friendly vacation destination with many things to see and do for all ages!  I highly recommend a vacation to Cozumel and taking a trip around the island.
